Seeing through ICT: Re-Viewing Student Teachers' Transformation of Practice from University Session to School Placement
Authors: Dourneen Jean, Matthewman Sasha
The article analyses the impact of the teaching of an ICT activity by a teacher educator. The authors traced two student teachers' transformations of the ICT activity in lessons during their school practice. They show how tracing the transformation of an ICT activity from a university session to school lessons can make the dilemmas associated with subject knowledge, learning, and pedagogy more visible for teacher educators. The study suggests that ICT creates an additional layer of complexity within teaching while also allowing the process and problems of learning to be more visually evident to a researcher.

Learning, Teaching, and Scholarship in a Digital Age-Web 2.0 and Classroom Research: What Path Should We Take Now?
Authors: Greenhow Christine, Robelia Beth, Hughes Joan E.
This paper discusses the characteristics of Web 2.0 that differentiate it from the Web of the 1990s. It describes the contextual conditions in which students use the Web today. Furthermore, the paper also examines how Web 2.0’s unique capabilities and youth’s proclivities in using it influence learning and teaching. A stronger research focus on students’ everyday use of Web 2.0 technologies and their learning with Web 2.0 both in and outside of classrooms is needed.

Comments on Greenhow, Robelia, and Hughes: Technologies That Facilitate Generating Knowledge and Possibly Wisdom
Authors: Dede Chris
Greenhow, Robelia, and Hughes (2009) argue that Web 2.0 media are well suited to enhancing the education research community’s purpose of generating and sharing knowledge. The author of this paper first articulates how a research infrastructure with capabilities for communal bookmarking, photo and video sharing, social networking, wikis, and mash-ups could enhance both the pace and quality of education scholarship, complementing federal investments in cyberinfrastructure. He then argues for a second, more provocative and controversial usage of this research infrastructure: an experimental attempt to generate 'wisdom.'

Automatic Detection of Learning Styles for An E-Learning System
Authors: Özpolat Ebru, Akar Gozde B.
In this article, the authors address the problem of extracting the learner model based on Felder–Silverman learning style model. The target learners in this problem are the ones studying basic science. Using NBTree classification algorithm in conjunction with Binary Relevance classifier, the learners are classified based on their interests. Then, learners’ learning styles are detected using these classification results.

Two-Way Mirror: Technology-Rich K-8 and Teacher Education Programs
Authors: Donovan Loretta, Green Tim
In this article, the authors explore the relationship between technology use in school classrooms and a teacher preparation program. The authors describe how teacher candidates learn how to use technology as a pedagogical tool to enhance teaching and learning . They describe technology use in schools, their courses, and their students' field experiences. By modeling technology integration in their course work (based on what they observed in schools) and by collaborating with technology-rich classrooms and teachers, the authors found that teacher candidates became natural users of technology in their student teaching.

Authors: Sobel Donna M., Iceman Sands Deanna, Dunlap Joanna C.
This article describes an approach to online course planning and design. Special attention was paid to creating rich and meaningful student-to-content interactions, as well as student-to-instructor interactions. The instructors approached the design of this course to address personalization (student-to-instructor interaction), meaningful engagement (student-to-content interaction), and ongoing checks of student understanding (student-to-instructor and student-to-content interactions). The authors conclude the article with recommendations for future online course development and implementation in the field of teacher education.

Comparing Self-paced and Cohort-based Online Courses for Teachers
Authors: Russell Michael, Kleiman Glenn, Carey Rebecca, Douglas Joanne
The study explored whether online professional development courses with different levels of support have different impacts on teacher outcomes. Variations of an online course for middle school algebra teachers were created for four experimental conditions. All conditions showed significant impact on teachers’ mathematical understanding, pedagogical beliefs, and instructional practices.

Teachers' Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge and Learning Activity Types: Curriculum-based Technology Integration Reframed
Authors: Harris Judith B., Mishra Punya, Koehler Matthew J.
In this article, the authors critically analyze extant approaches to technology integration in teaching. The authors argue that many current methods are technocentric, often omitting sufficient consideration of the dynamic and complex relationships among content, technology, pedagogy, and context. They recommend using the technology, pedagogy, and content knowledge (TPACK) framework as a way to think about effective technology integration.
